About the Teacher
Name: Mrs. Leonhardt
School: Janney E.S.
Class: Room 108 Kindergarten
Hello!
Welcome to a wonderful year in Kindergarten! My name is Logan Leonhardt and I am excited to be your teacher at Janney! My teaching career has taken me in Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms where I’ve had the privilege to meet and work with some amazing students and educators. (From Washington, DC to Toronto, Ontario Canada and back)! I obtained my undergrad from Rider University where I was recruited to play D1 tennis and I have my Masters in Early Childhood Education from American University (MAT). This is my 7th year teaching at Janney and I am eager to meet you!
My approach to class management is to be kind and firm and I make sure that the classroom is set up for exploration and discovery, success and celebration. Our classroom is an environment of clear expectations, meaningful communication, and routines that help make the most of our time together. I hope always to promote a love of learning, a community of respect, and to provide a safe place for your child to grow, take risks and feel proud of their efforts and accomplishments.
Outside of teaching, you can also find me early mornings on the ice (yes, I dance skate!) as I’m currently working on the Argentine Tango (gold level) and a member of the Washington Figure Skating Club. I’m also a certified tennis Instructor with the USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association). In the summers, you can find me traveling, out on the golf course, going back to Canada with my husband (he’s Canadian but I'm also a permanent resident of Canada!), hiking, yoga, biking or just curled up with book. I also enjoy watching any live sporting event. We are a hockey household, so of course I cheer for our 2018 Stanley Cup Champions, the Washington Capitals! GO CAPS! :0)
I look forward to meeting you!
